Role of the ECCE in Childcare

The ECCE is an acronym for the Early Childhood Care and Education scheme that arranges free early childhood care for the span of a year. This is especially meant for children who are still in their pre-school years. Kids are eligible for the ECCE scheme once they fall in the age group of 3 years and 2 months to 4 years and 7 months.

The state government pays the capitation fee to day care centres and playschools that participate in the programme. Children are eligible for an ECCE stint only for a one-year term but exceptions are made in certain cases. This especially holds true for a child who suffers from any kind of physical disability. The extended term may help the less privileged ones to benefit significantly from the course.
